Retaining walls and reinforced slopes

In some places with rough topography, retaining walls are indispensable elements to optimize the construction area to obtain horizontal platforms with the required lifting capacity. A retaining wall has the intention to maintain a difference of ground levels with the objective to obtain different benefits:

  • Roads and parking lots
  • Extension of the area
  • Houses construction
  • Landfills
  • Ramps
  • Docks for channels and rivers
  • Embankments
  • Rehabilitation of natural slopes

The basic concept is to reinforce the soil by ACE GG-I geogrids to improve the mechanic properties of the soil to obtain a balanced system of forces. Each project requires a design that determines the resistance of the geogrid to be used. The factors that are taken into account are:

  • Geometry of the wall
  • Overload over the wall
  • Soil mechanical properties

Another great advantage of the retaining walls and reinforces slopes is that they can offer diverse types of finishes, between which emphasize, the vegetated slopes, walls with concrete tablet, or blocks.
