Soft soil stabilization and retaining wall |
Project:Soft soil stabilization and retaining wall for departmental store Place:Villahermosa, Tabasco Problem:A chain of departmental stores had the thought to build a new establishment in the city of Villahermosa, Tabasco, which is characterized to most of have soft soils in its extension. In addition to this problem, the topography of the place demanded the generation of a platform to be used like parking lot, which had to be supported by retaining walls which they supported the pushes generated by the loads of the vehicles. All this to reach the levels that allowed a direct access from the street Solution:The soft soil stabilization was made with the combination of two products. A polyester geotextile was used to avoid the mixture of materials, the existing soil and improved soil to obtain homogenous layers. On the other hand ACE GG-I 30-II biaxial geogrid was used to reinforce the improved soil. This combined system obtained an efficient behavior and at the same time increasing the bearing capacity that avoids the differential collapses. An ACE GG 60-I was used and in the construction of the retaining walls and a GMG 512 geocomposite to alleviate the hydrostatic pressures in the retaining walls. Return to Representative Works >>>
