Retaining wall in America´s Mall, Jalapa

Project:

Vertical retaining wall for a mall using ACE GG-60-I geogrids

Place:

Jalapa, Ver.

Problem:

A commercial center was constructed in Jalapa where the topography is a problem for all the constructions. In this case a construction company had to construct a parking lot that served as access the second floor of the establishment. The length was about 300 meters and the height average of 6 meters practically did impossible to think about solving it with traditional walls of concrete due to the high cost.

Solution:

The construction of the commercial center retaining walls was using an ACEGG 60-I reinforcement and also it was used a GMG 512 geocomposite as a drainage system to alleviate the hydrostatic load. This was the best option in cost and time for this work. A concrete one was placed over the retaining wall as a finishing. These walls were hidden by the structure of the commercial center.
