Drainage system for reinforced retaining walls, Tijuana, B.C. |
Project:Drainage system for reinforced retaining walls Place:Tijuana, Baja California. Problem:The city of Tijuana has a rough topography. Most of the constructions need retaining walls to reach the level of every platform. At the construction of a new residential area many retaining walls were reinforced with ACE GG 60-I geogrid to replace the traditional retaining wall concrete method. Nevertheless it was required an effective drainage system in these walls to alleviate the pressures generated by hydraulic flow within embankments to avoid pushes. Solution:The answer to this problem was by the use of a GMG 512 geocomposite. This material was placed in the entire slope, behind of the reinforcement to get the anchorage length project. This material has the capacity to avoid hydraulic stress as its name indicates this product is made of a pair of geotextiles that work like filters to avoid saturation in the network. The network nucleus has been designed to evacuate the water. Return to Representative Works >>>
